Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia among older people. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously affects a person's ability to carry out daily activities.
In AD, over time, symptoms get worse. People may not recognize family members. They may have trouble speaking, reading or writing. They may forget how to brush their teeth or comb their hair. Later on, they may become anxious or aggressive, or wander away from home. Eventually, they need total care. This can cause great stress for family members who must care for them.
Well, my father's mother had Alzheimer for almost 5 years, at the begining she was relatively normal, she only started to forget things that didn't be important or normal like: put salt in the soup, or mop the floor so she did the things agains.
Then she was forgeting the date and she always think in a special period of time; when she visited the doctor, and the doctor said us "She is located in a date that marked her and can't get out of there". So it was she started to forgat all information about the present and only remembered information near to the past.
Almost 2 years ago she started to ger worts because she confused and forgot her family also she always walked around the house all day, but she wasn't aware of it for that reason she almost didn't eat and started tho loss the strength and weight.
The last year she couldn't move or talk, she kept all day in the bed and my uncles gave the food, and the food usually was vitamin powder to help her body to resist. But in september 20 died.
This disease isn't only dangerous for the person who has it, also is dangerous to the family because see and live the process that relative doesn't reconigze him.
